Pallavi Kiragi

Multidisciplinary Designer. Artist.

As a human-centered practitioner, I am always looking to embrace transdisciplinary design values and actions through experimentation of processes and mediums. Familiarize with trends and assess their relevance to the user's definition and experience via perception and thought process. I am passionate about tangible interactions, spatial design, and data-driven outcomes. My other form of creative expression is music production, specifically sound design and synthesis applied to film scoring and electronic music.

Holographic Musuem
Prototyping

Multimedia prototype, video editing, AR/VR
Explore holograms in Museum experiences which include a full-body immersion in the hologram inside an exclusive car. Experiential and Informative. How can holograms be more interactive than just mere 3d displays?

Prototyping process to understand concepts that lack user interaction. Usage of holograms as a new medium to explore its versatility in performing respective actions such as zooming, color, texture, and structural representation. The concept is to use holographic technology in a car museum (vintage & modern) This communicates a new form of learning and interested customers are anyone between the ages of 7-60 that are car enthusiasts

Ideations for Directions

Ideations for DirectionsCombining one’s passion for cars with the basic thirst for knowledge to provide them with an immersive holographic learning experience. Taking a more technological approach to education, we as designers aim to enhance a learning experience that would allow the learner to expand and explore what they find captivating.

The project aims at combining holographic technology with artificial reality to revolutionise the idea of museums. To begin with, the artefacts in these museums will merely be holographic illusions. In doing so we hope to be able to restore certain damaged parts/textures and discolouration that may have occurred over the years. The same space can be used for various exhibits without requiring manpower to change the exhibits thus reducing human error and any damage that it may cause to the artefact itself.

DIRECTION 1

USER TESTING 1

Exploded holographic view of the various elements of the car. The hologram of the car will be projected from below. Viewers will be able to walk around it to obtain a 360° view. The user interacts with a voice-generated hologram of a car using hand gestures. The experience is the interaction with the hologram and recording voice commands to bring the engagement. In coordination with hand movements and bringing inspiration from wizard of oz, the hologram responds with hand movements faking the interaction such as exploding car parts with the voice interface. With the implementation of hand gestures and voice interface, we are mixing different mediums that unanimously synchronous together bringing a new perception of museum captivation

Mid-AIR HOLOGRAM

This is an example of audience engagement, understanding their behavior of sightseeing and experience with holograms. The purpose here was to comprehend what was their thought process and conclusions when they previewed the holographic car and its components

DIRECTION 2

The second part of this project requires the use of 3D multi-touch technology for interactions. We aim to design the interaction in a way that would allow its user to interact with the hologram by zooming in on certain physical elements to uncover exploded views, informative pieces etc. It would provide you with detailed information about the functions and procedures related to the artifact in front of you. The user would have complete control over how he/she wishes to view the object. A step further would be in the direction of a vintage car museum. We will be using video editing and a 3D hologram pyramid to demonstrate what the concept would look like if it were applied to cars and exploded views of their vintage parts.

USER TESTING 2

An interactive arrangement where the user will be sitting inside the holographic car itself. A seat will be placed in the center of the hologram and the user will be able to view it from the inside. We ideated further in this direction after we realized that our previous prototype lacked user interactions. The user sits in an empty chair with a boundary and projectors at each corner simulate a holographic car. The user interacts with the Air conditioning system, understanding the features and the system of airflow as well as gaining general knowledge on different scenarios of AC applications. This lets the user feel the projected car and holographic properties such as exploding, movement, and color applications bring a new perspective in experiencing a real car and understanding its systems.
